The Legislature and Libraries: December 15th, 2020 9am
Mark your calendars – The New York Library Association is hosting a free virtual series called Advocacy Fundamentals, monthly through March 2021. As part of this series, NYLA will have a zoom session called The Legislature and Libraries, taking place on Tuesday, December 15th, from 9-10:30 am.
Please follow this link for details and click the bottom link: “Register Here” to register: https://www.nyla.org/fundamentals-series/
(You can also view videos of the past sessions on that page.)
Senate and Assembly members will join this virtual session. This is a great opportunity to learn more about successful library advocacy at the New York State Capitol. Members from the Senate and Assembly will discuss the 2020 Session, their roles and priorities, and the year ahead.
The pandemic has emphasized the importance of our library system, through the brilliant ways it has adapted to keep us connected, educated and entertained during this time. Curbside pickup, virtual storytimes, and providing WiFi, are just a few examples of how the library has kept our spirits up!
By participating in this session and becoming educated, you will be joining us in a critical mission to ensure the library and its employees can continue to do their best work in serving the community. Join us in advocating for our beloved Albany Public Library, and for public libraries in Albany and Rensselear Counties, and across New York!
Program Presenters:
Assemblyman Sean Ryan, Chair of the Assembly Libraries & Education Technology Committee
Assemblyman Robert Smullen, Ranker of the Assembly Libraries & Education Technology Committee
Senator Shelly Mayer, Chair of the Senate Education Committee
