The Wall Street Journal called it “delightful” and it is featured on a Publisher’s Weekly list of Favorite Reads of 2021.

Sylvie grew up in France and moved to the United States in her 20s.  She has made her home in Albany, where she is delighted to have access to a fantastic library system. She lives with her partner, Barbara Lehman, also an author-illustrator of books for young readers.

While writing In Security, Schwarzschild worked as a Transportation Security Officer-in-training at Albany International Airport. His next book, Job Security (under contract with MIT Press), is a non-fiction, interview-based documentary collaboration with the photographer Danny Goodwin about the expanding world of Security Labor in the USA.

Edward Schwarzschild is  a Professor of English, the Director of Creative Writing, and a Fellow of the New York State Writers Institute at the University at Albany, SUNY. He lives in Albany with his wife, Elisa Albert, who was our 2020 Literary Legend.

Literary Legends is the Friends & Foundation of Albany Public Library’s signature event.

Literary Legends was created to showcase outstanding people of letters within our community. The purpose of Literary Legends is two-fold: (1) to recognize outstanding local authors, illustrators, and publishers for their extraordinary contributions to the art of letters, and (2) to raise needed funds for special programs and services provided by the Albany Public Library. Thank you for your support!
