Save the Date NYLA Library Advocacy Day #LAD23 TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2023
Each year library advocates from across New York State converge on Albany to voice their support for funding and policies that benefit libraries. In 2023, NYLA members and library advocates can come to Albany or participate virtually!
The Friends and Foundation of APL will table in Feb to encourage patrons to stand up for libraries and reach out to their elected officials. We will table at Washington Ave from 10am – 2pm on Tuesday Feb 7 and Feb 28, at Delaware Branch on Feb 20, at Pine Hills on Feb 21, and at Bach Branch on Feb 22.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
- Be a Social Media Advocate. “Leverage Your Network” and connect with your elected officials online.
- Share Your Story. We know you love your library and that’s why we want you to share your story. Tell NYLA why your library is important to you. Send messages or videos to marketing [at] nyla.org
- Advocate for Increased Funding & Policy Initiatives that would benefit the library community. Sign up on NYLA’s page to visit your elected officials, or just come to meet library advocates from across New York at the Legislative Office Building rally at 12pm [TBC] on February 28th.
- Submit a Video for NYLA’s “I Am A #LibraryAdvocate” Campaign. We are asking our #LibraryAdvocates to share with us via video why #nylibraries are important to you! Whether you are a seasoned library advocate, or this is your first Library Advocacy Day – we want to hear from you. These videos will be shared via NYLA’s social media channels.
- Table at Albany Public Library in February: FFAPL engages with APL patrons in February to urge them to contact elected officials in support of Library Aid and NYLA’s legislative agenda. We table at Washington Ave on Tuesdays in February and at other branches based on volunteer availability.
