I grew up near Boston, but I have lived in Albany for over 20 years, and it definitely is my home now. I appreciate the fact that it is easy to get involved in the community in a small city like Albany. I have two children who graduated from Albany High School in recent years, and I spent a lot of time working with the schools when they were enrolled. I have recently switched my focus from the schools to the library. I appreciate the role the Albany Public Library plays in helping people of all ages learn new things.
I am fortunate in being able to support libraries in my paid job at the Capital District Library Council as well. At CDLC, I work with library staff from all kinds of libraries – K12 school libraries, college libraries, hospital libraries, public libraries, and special libraries like those in museums, government agencies, and businesses. It has opened my eyes to how important libraries are to many sectors of society.
It’s no big surprise that I like to spend my free time reading and listening to books. The audiobooks that are available through Albany Public Library have livened up my long walks around the city. During the pandemic, I started attending APL’s online mystery book club. This has been a welcome respite from more serious times, and it has been fun to discuss the books with people from all over the city at the meetings.
I am honored to serve on the Board of the Friends and Foundation of Albany Public Library because I think the library is one of the most vibrant institutions in our city and one of the few that serves every city resident.
Meet Our Board. We want to let the public and our donors know all of the dedicated volunteers who serve on the FFAPL board. And, if you are interested in joining our board, contact us and someone from the Board Nominating Committee will follow up with you.
