This week’s turnout at the FFAPL Tuesday Book Talk was fantastic! Friends gathered around the snack table for coffee, tea, cookies and Bill’s famous walnut brownies before settling in to hear David Guistina’s review of Probable Impossibilities: Musings on Beginnings and Endings by Alan Lightman.
Guistina, a local WAMC radio personality, gave an energetic review of Lightman’s philosophical collection of essays that made some listeners shift uncomfortably in their chairs. The overall reaction of the room after Guistina announced that “there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on the beaches of Earth” was that of shock followed by an eerie silence.
Joining us for this week’s Book Talk, in honor of National Friends of Libraries Week, the executive director of the Albany Public Library, Andrea Nicolay, gave a speech to show her support for the friends of the APL.
Join the friends of the APL at the Washington branch every Tuesday at noon to hear a book review or an author talk and, of course, enjoy Bill’s baked good!
