Happy Pride Month! In order to show support for the entire LGBTQA+ community, the Albany Public Library is hosting some events to celebrate pride.
June 11th, 12 pm – 2 pm: APL @ Say it Loud! Black and Latino Pride Celebration
APL will be at the 16th annual Say it Loud! Black and Latino Pride Celebration presented by In Our Own Voices. They will be co-hosting a special drag queen storytime with the fabulous Paris Lerux at 1 pm. APL will be tabling at the event from 12-2 pm, the event runs from 12-5 pm in Washington Park. No registration is required.
June 16th, 2 pm – 3 pm: Novels After Noon Book Club
In celebration of Pride Month, the June read will be How Y’all Doing? Misadventures and Mischief from a Well Lived Life by Leslie Jordan – a humorous memoir about the unforgettable life events of actor Leslie Jordan. This title is available in print, and digitally on Overdrive (eAudiobook &eBook). Print copies will be available for pick-up at the Bach Branch. Registration required.
June 23rd, 6 pm – 7 pm: Heartstopper Graphic Novel Discussion
Teens are invited to read all four Heartstopper graphic novels by Alice Oseman for Pride Month, then come together for a book discussion about the novels, issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community, and mental health. Participants will also receive a Heartstopper pin! Registration required. This program will take place in the youth services programming room on the second floor of the Washington Avenue branch unless otherwise notified.
