The Friends & Foundation of Albany Public Library is seeking a Grant Writer. Full description of responsibilities may be found below.
ROLE: The Freelance Grant Writer will pursue funding to continue and expand FFAPL’s digital inclusion initiatives. The grant writer will research 8-10 prospects to share with the board and staff of FFAPL, and will prepare and submit 3-5 grant applications, in collaboration with FFAPL and APL staff.
COMPENSATION: $35-$65 per hour depending on experience
Position would be on an as needed basis and Grant Writer would initially be contracted for 100 hours. Within those 100 hours, Grant Writer would be expected to submit 3-5 Grants. The FFAPL Grant Writer will act as an Independent Contractor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researching and identifying potential grant opportunities that align with our organization’s mission and goals.
- Developing grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization’s goals, objectives, and strategies to potential funders.
- Collaborating with program staff to gather relevant information and data needed for grant applications.
- Submitting timely and accurate grant proposals to potential funders.
- Maintaining accurate records of grant submissions and outcomes.
- Staying current on grant funding opportunities and requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, business, nonprofit management, etc.)
- At least 2-3 years of experience in grant writing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong research and writing skills, including the ability to develop compelling narratives that effectively communicate the organization’s mission and goals.
- Familiarity with grant application processes and requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
