I came to Albany for a job in 1987 and fell in love with the area. I married and I had four children while being a freelance writer and journalism lecturer at the University at Albany.
My interests are writing and reading, and I have been in a book club for more than 20 years now. All this was a natural fit to become part of Albany Public Library as a board trustee and member of the Friends and Foundation of APL. I served as president of both organizations.
I love libraries because they are open to all and are an essential part of every community providing programs, events, services and so much more.
Holly McKenna was the President of the Albany Public Library Foundation from 2012 until 2020 and was the first president of the combined Friends & Foundation of Albany Public Library. Join us at our National Library Week Luncheon on April 5th as we celebrate Holly’s contributions to the Library and the Friends & Foundation.
Meet Our Board posts will be running in the month of March. We want to let the public and our donors know all of the dedicated volunteers who serve on the FFAPL board. And, if you are interested in joining our board, contact us and someone from the Board Nominating Committee will follow up with you.
Holly McKenna is Director of Community Engagement at the International Center of the Capital Region.
