It has been a year of tremendous growth and activity here at the Friends & Foundation of APL!  We are asking for your help to sustain the programs and services that we help the Albany Public Library provide for our community.

Thanks to a single grant from Schmidt Futures, the size of our organizational budget more than doubled this year. Administering our newly funded Keep Albany Connected project was on top of our regular activity –Tuesday Book Talks, Literary Legends, Touhey Library Equity Fellowship and, most importantly, funding programs proposed by library staff.

We stepped up to that challenge and added staff to help us grow–hiring a newsletter writer and booksale coordinator. At the same time, we weathered an important transition. Our founding director, Holly McKenna, passed the reins of the Friends & Foundation of APL to our new president, DTrae Carter. DTrae and I began an active campaign to build up a strong board, ready to lead this organization into the future. Months of work and outreach paid off, and we welcomed five new board members to our organization.

Can we count on your gift to the Annual Appeal this year?  Please give whatever you can, whether that’s $20 or $2000.

Every dollar counts, and every donor counts. This year, as we prepare for the centennial of the Albany Public Library and 75th anniversary of the Friends of APL in 2023, we are asking for your support to expand our group of donors and supporters. Can you help us by asking a friend or neighbor to become a library supporter this year?
