I’m a native of Albany, but I’ve lived elsewhere, including eight years in New England and three years in Italy.

My main thing is art – making it, seeing it, framing it, and writing about it. My photographs have been exhibited widely over many years, and I still make new pictures, but I don’t show much anymore. The art blog where I publish my writing is called Get Visual; I started it in 2009.

My main activities since I retired in 2019 are reading, seeing movies, and participating in sports, both recreational and competitive, including basketball, running, and biking – even a little bit of pickleball! My wife, Karen, and I have two cats and no kids.

I’m a new member of the FFAPL board, but I have already helped to choose this year’s Literary Legends! (and last year, before I joined FFAPL, my nominee Gene Mirabelli received that distinction).

Libraries have been part of my life since I can remember. I grew up a short walk from the old Pine Hills Branch on Western Avenue and started reading very early, so I was there all the time as a little kid. Now, I borrow DVDs, books, and CDs on a nearly constant basis. Who needs cable (or Netflix)?

I’m grateful that my city has such a great library system and am proud to support it for the good of all.

Meet Our Board posts will be running in the month of March. We want to let the public and our donors know all of the dedicated volunteers who serve on the FFAPL board. And, if you are interested in joining our board, contact us and someone from the Board Nominating Committee will follow up with you.
