FFAPL presents special events at APL, including recurring annual events and singular author events.
Literary Legends, APL Foundation’s signature event, takes place the 3rd Saturday of October. Each year, the Foundation selects a new outstanding person of letters in our community, and invites the community to celebrate them with a cocktail reception in their honor.
Literary Legends are announced in April and visit the Library in May or June for An Evening with the Authors, a wine-and-dessert reception and reading.
Each year in April, the FFAPL invites a nationally recognized author for the National Library Week Distinguished Author Lecture. A luncheon or dinner reception with the author is held before or after the lecture.
The Foundation also presents book launches at the Washington Ave branch for local and visiting authors and special projects, such as Bike the Branches or Fake News, Real Teens, in conjunction with APL or FFAPL initiatives.
