The SUNY ATTAIN LAB at Albany Housing is offering free computer skills classes for seniors beginning September 26th. The classes are open to all. Senior residents of Albany Housing who complete all three classes will receive a free Chromebook from FFAPL.

In conjunction with the APL-AHA Digital Inclusion Partnership, the FFAPL is distributing free devices for senior residents of Albany Housing Authority. Recipients must complete a 3-hour digital skills training class, which is offered as 3 one-hour classes. The first round of these classes will be offered on Tuesdays at 2pm on September 26, October 3 and October 10.

  • September 26: Basic computer skills – using mouse and touchscreen, typing and navigating
  • October 3: Online Senior Surfing (Facebook, emails, shopping)
  • October 10: Privacy and Scam awareness (credit card/debit information)

Classes will take place at the SUNY Attain Lab at the Laden Center, behind 200 Green Street in Albany [MAP]. Classes are open to all seniors. Registration is not required but space is limited. Drop-in at your own risk. If you would like to register, contact the LifePath program coordinator at Westview Apartments at 518-482-2120 and let her know what dates you will attend.

Albany Housing Authority is providing transportation from Westview apartments to the Laden Center on September 26. Contact the LifePath program coordinator to reserve your spot for transportation. Unfortunately, handicap accessible transportation is not available at this time. Handicapped residents should contact CDTA Star or other accessible transportation options. The LifePath Program coordinator can support residents who would like to apply for certification to receive CDTA Star service.
