Our February Advocacy campaign in support of Library Advocacy has come to a close. But there are still a few weeks before the NYS Budget is passed. Stand up for libraries and tell your elected officials that you love libraries and you vote!

This year, we tabled four days at three different APL branches. FFAPL spoke with 16 APL patrons about library advocacy, and 12 of them used the NYLA one-click tool to send emails to their elected officials. (You can do this from home, too!) We shared information about NYLA’s Legislative Agenda, and also talked with patrons about FFAPL programs.

NYLA gathered in person at the Well of the Legislative Office Building for their annual rally after a morning of visits with legislators. This was the first rally in-person since 2020.

Thank you to all of New York’s Library Champions!

February is our season for concerted advocacy for a specific goal, but advocacy for libraries is a year-round project. If you would like to do more to stand up for libraries, visit New York Library Association and ALA United. Become a member, or just sign up for email newsletters, or just follow them on social media, to learn about what you can do to support libraries. Contact us if you would like to join our Advocacy Committee to do more locally.
