During the month of September, the American Library Association and libraries across the country urge you to get in your element at the library! #GetLibraryCarded.

September is National Library Card Signup Month! As friends of the Albany Public Library, we want to remind you how valuable the library can be to you. A library card gives students the tools to thrive in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams and passions.

A library card is always a back to school essential. If you don’t have your Albany Public Library card, visit your local library or visit the link below to sign up for a library card today!

Get in Your Element this September—sign up for a library card! From borrowing books, ebooks, and museum passes to getting homework help, learning new skills, or attending story time, a library card helps you do more of what you enjoy. Get a library card and dive into a new hobby. Use your library card to tinker in a maker space and spark your creativity. A library card is your most important school supply—it’s elemental, really—and everyone should have one!

If you haven’t visited your library lately, stop in this month! Even if you already have a card, maybe you want to stop by and get yourself a new APL 100 Centennial card?

Find out all that your library has to offer. Visit the Albany Public Library website or check out the library calendar to find out about public events coming up. Download the Upper Hudson Library System app [Android][Apple], Libby app [Android] [Apple], and Hoopla app [Android][Apple] to start accessing the library online.

If you are a regular library user, let your friends & neighbors know about the library. Ask people if they have a library card, or choose the the library as a location for a meeting. (If you haven’t used the Meeting Room reservation system since 2020, ask a Librarian to tell you how to use the new system.. or just phone in to the library to request a reservation for your date and time.)

And don’t forget APL WiFi!

You don’t need a library card to access free and fast APL internet! Get online indoors throughout library branches, outdoors at most branches, and also in Lincoln Park, Swinburne Park, Washington Park (near the Lakehouse) and throughout Albany Housing Authority outdoor areas.

As the most important provider of internet access for people without broadband at home, the Albany Public Library is more important than ever. Because you have to get online to be able to learn online. #KeepAlbanyConnected
